If you like planning ahead - I just noticed that April 20-26 is Public School Volunteer Week and many of you might light to do something small and sweet for your volunteers. It doesn't have to cost money and if you have an idea or two from year past - start a new link with this topic - it's time to start planning.
We always did something at our elem. school for our volunteers, so several years ago I created a page on our website that might help you get an idea or two.
You can also get added to their email list for a great newsletter to arrive in your email and expand the list of ideas and awareness on many things that concern kids of today!
I got a calendar out of the back of a catalog too. Did you know that March 22 is "International Goof-Off Day"? It has a lot of fun days in it. The catalog is either called "That's Elementary" or "It's Elementary". Maybe that is enough to help. We used their calendar last year too.

At our school we have changed teacher appreciation week( May 5-9 this year) to STAFF appreciation week. This way we cover the office/media/cafeteria/custodial people who keep the school running, as well as the teachers. Instead of a single day, we stretch the goodies out over an entire week.Every day, there's a small goody in their mail slot and on Friday, special food is put in the break room.Sometimes it's breakfast type items, sometimes lunch. Everyone enjoys it.
I found a date for Custodian appreciation day , it was January 19th. Im not sure why it's on a Sunday but we ended up celebrating it two days late because of the holiday ! There's a really great web site with everything and anything on it i believe it's ButlerWebs.com . You can find holidays under the middle column (general Webs) it's toward the bottom of the list ! OH MY! I did realize that there are so many special days. I am looking for one that has janitors day in it. I heard there was a day for this. Our school janitor is wonderful so I wanted to do something for him that day. But I don't know when it is. Thank you for responding. If your calendar has this day in it I would really be greatful to have it.
