Our fifth grade hosts snack cart sales on all half days. We go around early in the morning when the kids arrive and sell small bags of snacks and waters.
We do monthly popcorn Friday. The kids love it. It takes about 5-8 parents for 2-3 hours in the morning to pop the popcorn and get to the classrooms. If your PTO has a big popcorn popper it goes really fast. Otherwise you can just buy the large bags at Gordon Food Service (won't make as much money). We make about $300 or more each time. Sell for $1.00 per bag. We also have a "prize" bag and the winner getts a Tootsie Pop
If there is no money for a field trip-- host a movie day for them-- it takes approx. 2 hours-- you contact a local pizza place about donating pizza's, and same thing with drinks-- party stores, CVS, walmart -- serve them pizza and then give each one a small bag of candy or popcorn (contact the movie theatre about donating the popcorn)- they will usually--- and watch a great film-- if it's just the 5th graders and you have it during school it makes it special and all kids can go--- no need to stay after school--- there are several great movies just releases-- Tangled, nomeo and juliet is coming out may 23rd-- most school districts have movie licenses- just need to check with your main office staff-- if this is not doable--- how about a picnic lunch for the kids, they bring their own lunch, but sit outside and eat it-- have frisbees, music, maybe popsicles for desert, again, doesn't cost much and the kids will love it...
We will be getting fifth grade next year in our school and pre-k will be leaving. This is my first year on my pto and I love it. I wanna do yearbooks for the kids and a graduation for them next year. You can get decor. on oriental trading that isnt that expensive and give them a free print out diploma you can get on google. I know when i graduated 8th grade you got four tixs and had to pay 5.00 each for them. A good way to fundraise. You can raise alot of money if its held outside. I know if we did this the kids would be so excited on accomplishing something so great.
We take pictures of the students for Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Rodeo and Easter for $4.00. They get a 4x6 picture and a sticker. It raises $1000 take away expenses maybe $750. Parents sell plates lunches.
