You can search the internet for grants, there are tons out there. One that might be good for you is Captain Planet foundation (a Turner foundation) www.turner.com/cpf/

Where you find out about the different grants? Someone told me you have to take a class to know how to write a grant.

We have a creek that runs along the schools property line. We would like to make an outdoor education area with walking trails. We have contacted the conservation district and they are helping. I just think that there has to be untapped resources out there. If you have any ideas please point me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance. Lisa

Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code refers to the tax exempt status from federal income tax. Tax exempt status means that your PTO does not pay federal income tax on income from activities ralated to the purpose for which the PTO was given the exempt status.
Federal Regulations and State Regulations appply to all organizations whether or not they are PTA. In Ohio if you have not filed for the status you must pay tax on your income

Our PTA just received a $5,600 grant for playground equipment. The golden rule that I know of is that you need to be 501(c)3. As long as you have this, you can grant write away! Good luck
