My survival list also includes a Pencil - to remind you to list your blessings everyday. And, along with the Kiss....we encluded a HUG. I put everyting in a glass mason jar with a piece of cloth and ribbon on top. A nice desk or selve topper.

The following is the Volunteer Survival Kit I found at PTO Today:

"As a new volunteer for the PTO [or other organizational name], here are a
few things to help you "survive" the experience!

Toothpick -- to remind you to pick out the good qualities in others.

Rubber band -- to remind you to be flexible, things might not always go the
way you want, but it will work out.

Band Aid -- to remind you to heal hurt feelings, yours or someone else's.

Eraser -- to remind you that everyone makes mistakes, and it is okay.

Chewing Gum -- to remind you to stick with it, and you can accomplish
anything.

Mint -- to remind you that you are worth a mint.

Candy Kiss -- to remind you that everyone needs a kiss or a hug every day.

Tea Bag -- to remind you to relax daily & count your blessings. "

You can use any type of container/bag to hold these items...a small bag tied
with a ribbon, a small gift box, etc.

Hope this helps!

Tunisia Mom,

Here are 2 poems that I found. The first one is more about how each person makes a difference and the second is about volunteers.

One

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what's true,
One life can make the difference,
You see, it's up to you!

Volunteers

Many will be shocked to find,
When the day of judgment nears,
That there's a special place in Heaven
Set aside for volunteers.
Furnished with big recliners,
Satin couches and footstools,
Where there are no committee chairmen,
No yard sales or rest area coffee to serve.
No library duty or bulletin assembly,
There will be nothing to print or staple,
Not one thing to fold or mail.
Telephone lists will be outlawed,
But a finger snap will bring
Cool drinks and gourmet dinners
And rare treats fit for a king.
You ask, "Who'll serve these privileged few
And work for all they're worth?"
Why all those who reaped the benefits,
And not once volunteered on Earth.
(Anonymous, quoted by Abigail Van Buren, Rocky Mtn News, 3/15/97)

Hope this helps.

I can't seem to find the volunteer survival kit list anywhere. Can you please pass it on to me? Thank you!
