Last year I met a great assembly performer at the Chicago conference, Terry Lynch. He does costumed characterizations of famous people based on in-depth research. Well, one thing led to another, and he is coming to SE Michigan this April to perform as Henry Ford for a major event at our school. We would have had the event regardless, but having Terry --err, Mr. Ford-- speak will make it even more meaningful for the kids. I sure didnt' expect that bonus when I attended the conferencee.
I just registered for Chicago, I'm so excited! This is our first year having a PTO and I hope to come away from the confrence with some great ideas. See you all in May!
I always knew it was a good idea to give my mom a forum registration.....
I'm kidding.
I love that answer, kdw. I think you nailed it. Can't wait to see you in Chicago, daddio. I can tell you that Chicago is approaching sell-out. We closed Massachusetts earlier this week.
We are completing our 2nd full year as a PTO. We attended the conference in Chicago last year and learned many great things. Best of all was listening to what others have tried. Things that work and don't work. Finding assembly possibilities and seeing the different buisinesses that can help us out was great.
This year we bought 8 tickets instead of 4 so that we can bring others with us. This will be on our budget for years to come. As will the cost of belonging to the PTO Today. We have come a long way with PTO Today from the group we started out as. A PTO was never done in our district and the information you receive and take away from the conference is invaluable.
