Hi Richard,
If all of this was just done without any discussion, then, at a minimum, this is not ok and will probably hurt your parent group in the long run if this is perceived as a takeover. It could also be in violation of your group's bylaws. If you do have bylaws, the election processes would be spelled out.
But, not know any of the circumstances, I would suggest you request a meeting with the principal so he or she can share what happened and express your concerns that a group without parent representation isn't going to be seen as a parent group.
HI Richard,
Not a good situation if this was done without votes. Not sure who it was that called and removed the president. The problem here is this board will quickly be seen by the school community as an arm of the school, not an independent parent group. Chances are, parents will not feel as enthused or interested in participating, not because they don't like the folks on the board, but because it isn't an independent, parent-run group. There's something very motivating and exciting about an independent parent group.
But, don't give up just yet. See what this group (new board) has in mind and what their priorities are. They could prove me totally wrong and that would be a good thing for you school community!
We had voted in all leadership. Then then president was contacted and informed that she was no longer the president and they had voted in tow teachers to the President and vice president positions. The principal of the schools wife is the secretary. We now only have one parent on the board and all of this was done with no vote.
