For teacher appreciation at my children's daycare, I gave each of the main teachers a reusable travel cup with a straw and put a $5 gift card for a coffee place in it. For the owner I gave her flowers with a cute sign that said "Thanks for helping [insert kids name} bloom".

This year we did something totally different than has ever been done at our school. I read on the weekly newsletter about doing a walk of appreciation and sent out an email to all of our parents about it. On Sunday, thank goodness rain was not in the forecast, my family, another family and a student I grabbed from the playground did just that. With just a dollar I was able to create the most memorable moment for my teachers. They all loved it and since they all have my cell number I got about 50 texts saying how awesome we are. It was a hit!!! We also did a breakfast last Friday (since this week is a plant sale), stuffed mailboxes with pens and they are in for another surprise at the end of the week. We will post to our website within the week for all the parents to see soon.
We do the same thing every year .... Breakfast on the Wednesday after Teacher Appreciation. We have bagels, fresh fruit, coffee from Dunkin Donuts, different types of teas and a bunch of different juices. We always do our appreciation late because our 6th grade students are on a week long field trip during that time and this way all staff can participate.
We are a middle school and really do not have many parents who volunteer with larger dishes. However, my PTO members are amazing at desserts - we provide a dessert buffet for the 3 conference days in the fall and in the spring as well as a teacher appreciation luncheon the last day of school. Our teachers are very appreciative for the support.
I am thinking that next year we may also do the CANDY BAR poem and request CANDY BAR donations from the parents. This is something super simple and cute.
I think all this overzealous spending and ideas on staff appreciation week is a little too much. The money, time and effort by the parents should be devoted to the students and the overall school environment...(new playground equipment...raking the playground..etc) whatever...The adults get paid for what they do. We love them...we provide a luncheon for them that is very nice without being extravagant...but any more is unnecessary. Fun? yes. But it does nothing to enhance the learning environment (if teachers are so stressed they need massages...they are in the wrong job.) Nice? yes...I get it.
