Been ousted and need some feedback please....

This is the time to just step back and do what you can from there!

What Imean by this... when you are part of a PTO that has become a clique, you cant get things done anyway! It is sad that these groups become "controlling" and miserable, but they do.

Unfortunately, that is why so many of them are dying!

I have been struggling with some similar issues and am not sure if I will remain in my position until the end of the school year or not. BUT I do know that this will not stop me from being an active part of my childrens education. I can still volunteer in the classroom. I will still show up and support the basketball team. I will still volunteer for activities that my children are involved in and defenitely be a constant image in the school.

Eventually they will get burnt out and want to step down from their positions. Maybe even eventually the PTO will die all together. That will be when I can step up and say "Hey, I would love to get this thing back on its feet".

There is an outlook to live by mykidsmom. ;) I think I'll try that.

I've said this before and I'll say it again...this is one of those times when you have to know when to hold 'em, know when to walk away, and know when to run (or in my case stick my foot in my mouth!).

I would (and have) lay low. Let this pass. I know, but sometimes you really need to watch what battles you pick and this is one I wouldn't.

This may sound gross~ Sometimes you gotta just let the wound heal. Band-aide the wound, stop picking, the last thing you need is the scar of a lost battle......they are the ugliest. Trust me.

That kinda happened to me. I resigned before it went any farther.

I got on the sub aide list in November 2000. I was also a volunteer at my children's schools. I was voted in VP of the new pre-k and the election at the end of the year voted in VP at the elementary school. The pres quit so I was voted to take over. I made many changes. My goal was to improve parental involvement. I decided not to run again because of college and wanting to work more. As pres I had to turn down alot of chances to work. This year my VP is pres and I was voted in sec/vol. cooridinator. My hubby is not happy about this because I do not get called to work at this school anymore, he doesn't think I should give free time if I am "not good enough to get paid to do it." The Pres reschedules the meetings on the nights she knows I have class. I emailed her my schedule. She knew. I should have taken the hint. I heard from her less and less. The volunteers I was supposed keep informed knew more than me. So they will be filling my position Thursday night. While I am in class. I am trying really hard not to let it bother me, but it is hard. I love those kids and I will volunteer when I can and that is just what it will be-volunteering for the kids. I am not really interested in PTO anymore, which has been my passion for the last four years. After the New Year I am going to try to get another job and if all goes well next fall I will be a sub teacher. I am concentrating on that, the transisition is pretty hard sometimes but trying to stay on wouldn't be worth the bitterness for me.

Thanks for all the great support! I am still waiting on the by laws to see what they have to say, but I have to say I am kinda in a limbo as to whether it is worth fighting about at this point. Half of me wants to take my position back and the other half just thinks it will cause more problems than it is worth. As it is right now, the principal is so pleased with herself and the rest of the pto treat me as if I have taken their only child! Some of the teachers are that way also! This is a BIG gossip pit of a school.Anyway, that is the update... still waiting for the by laws and not sure what direction to take yet :( Who would have thought being active in my kids education would amount to such turmoil. Thanks again for all the support

I couldn't have said it better myself! Just hang in there, YOUR kids are what's important. Don't let a bunch of meddling women bring you down. God knows where you stand in life.
