This past year our board was made up of school staff members. Is that okay? Doesn't that pose a conflict of interest? Only 7 people attended our last pto meeting, and I was the only parent. Shouldn't parents be on the board, and not staff/faculty members?

In our pto we have an election for all open offices. anyone interested can fill out a nomination form and must be present the night of the election ---everyone present at that meeting votes and your officers for the following year are then chosen.
I guess I misunderstood. Yes, if you have bylaws follow them. If you appoint certain members in addition to those elected, appoint those that you feel are best for the position, not just your friends or friends of friends.
