absentee ballots

I like that idea of having people sign in, we do that also. But having been there
for the last 3 meeting is great. How can you vote if you don't know what is going on in your own school. How do you enforce it, is it written in your by-laws,
or is it just understood?

We don't allow absentee votes as well. You must be present at the time of the voting. And if it's at the meeting in May when elections take place, you had to be signed in and present at at least 3 PTO meetings in order to vote.

we don't do absentee ballots either, you just would run into a whole lot of trouble
how do you make sure no one is stuffing the box, or one person is taking matters into their own hands to get what they want(there will allwise be one or two like that)sorry to say. if it is important you will come to vote.

no we don't have absentee ballots either and that was the reason we had too. You could get alot of people voting on something they don't know about wheter they go to a PTO meeting or not.

Pals makes a good point and I agree whole heartedly. Allowing absentee ballots just opens the door for uninvolved people to cast a vote without even bothering to show up to vote.

Nope not for us either way...one way of looking at whether to do this or not is ask yourself if you could see a potential problem for people "rigging" votes. Say Jane Doe doesn't want this item to pass, so she lines up all these people who have never been at a pto meeting or volunteered for one, yet they all send in absentee ballots swaying the vote Jane's way. I have heard of that happening, especially at election time. Just one side to think about.
