You'll need:

  • 2-3 large tree branches
  • Real leaves (you'll need one for every child)
  • Mod Podge
  • A vase
  • Twine
  • Hole punch (mini one is best)
  • Permanent markers
  • Optional: acorns or crushed pine cones (to fill in bottom of vase), sprigs of berries

To make your tree:

1. Collect a few large branches and assemble them together in a vase. Fill in bottom of vase with acorns or crushed pine cones if you'd like.

2. Prepare the “thankful leaves” ahead of time by painting each leaf with a thin coating of non-toxic Mod Podge.

3. Once the leaves are dry,  punch a hole in the top of each leaf, and string twine through to loop.

4. Have each child write what they are thankful for on one side of the leaf, and their name on the other side.

5. Before hanging leaves on the tree, ask each child to talk a bit about who or what is on his or her leaf.
