Materials:
- Egg carton
- Craft paint (we used red and pink)
- Paint brushes
- Googly eyes
- Glue
- Construction paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Pen
- Pipe cleaners
Directions:
Trim the egg carton down so you have 12 little cups (I suggest doing this in advance to save time). I also cut out the heart shaped wings in advance, but older kids may like using a heart shaped punch to do this as well!
Paint the cups in your favorite Valentine colors
Once dry, glue on some googly eyes
Now, glue the heart shaped wings on the side of your bug.
Next, using a pen or pencil tip, poke two antenna holes in the top of your bug and feed your pipecleaner through. We curled the ends of our antennae!
You’re done - enjoy your Love Bug or share with someone you love!
Tip: You might want to paint the egg cartons ahead of time, especially if you're working with the younger (and messier!) grades, or you don't have time to wait for the paint to dry during your party.
