Impeaching president

Our PTA President is out of control. I am the treasurer. She sends me nasty texts, I have to ask her to stop texting me. Then I turn the phone off. This week she came into the school and was yelling and screaming at me. She has already run our secretary off and our Vice President is non existent. What can we do? I have had to stop volunteering for fear she will come to the school.

It sounds like you have a Grenade or maybe a Steamroller to deal with. Those are personality types described in the article How To Deal With Difficult People. Your president is a bully, and no one would blame you if you quit entirely. If you do want to address the situation, though, the strategy is to confront the behavior and find out what's really behind it. It also helps to get support from others in a similar situation. I'd also recommend talking to the principal about how this is ruining the parent group and turning away potential volunteers.
