no thank you

How do I say thank you, but no thank you. We have an officer that does not fulfill duties AT ALL. She wants to be on the board again and I want to say thank you, but no thank you. That way I can fill the position with someone who a) wants the job b) will actually do the job. I saw an article a little while ago on PTO today but can't seem to track it down again.

I am searching for the article you reference, but can't seem to find it. So, let's walk through this: This person is on the board, but you say isn't doing a good job. Is it a one-year or two-year term? Is her term up? Do your bylaws indicate if this person can run again or not?

If this person can run again, according to your bylaws, you really can't stop her from doing so -- in the spirit that all should have a chance to run and the voting member of your group have the right to decide with an election, correct?

If she isn't good at it, and is known for not pitching in at all, then, who will reelect her?

Perhaps you have a situation where this person isn't in the right position in your group. It may work to try to gear her more toward where her talents are.
