How to deal with over assertive pto president?

The president of our pto is assertive, to the point of being almost confrontational, and other board members are not ok with this. She is very controlling, and things look like they may get stuck in the mud with our principal (who is new this year, with a lot of pto experience)... any suggestions would be helpful!!! Thanks...
