Question about Tricky Tray

Hi! New to PTO today, wondering if anyone has a copy of the letter to sponsors and parents to solicit donations? This will be the first TT that I have run and I am starting from scratch so any help would be greatly appreciated! Email to justineschwab_chorleyptovp@yahoo.com Thanks in advance!

Hi Justine -- Welcome to PTO Today! Have you had a chance to check out the File Exchage yet? It's a section where PTO leaders share letters, flyers, meeting announcements, bylaws, and lots more. The fundraising section has a number of letters that might help. I'm not sure if there's one specifically for a tricky tray, but there is this one soliciting donations for an auction. You might also be interested in the article Fundraising Help From Local Businesses, which offers advice for approaching businesses. My main piece of advice is to make sure you let businesses know what's in it for them. Will they get a mention in the program? A sign? Will you thank them over the microphone? Lots of businesses are charitable, but they like a bit of good publicity, too.

Good question! I've never been sure where the name comes from, but essentially it's half raffle, half silent auction. Instead of bid sheets, you put a bowl or other container in front of each auction item. People can put any number of raffle tickets in the bowl to increase their chance of winning the item. When "bidding" ends, you draw for the winner of each item. These can be fun events, and many schools run them.
