Are there any grants for the PTO or PTA from the goverment or is there a certain amount funded to the school organization from the goverment every year?

The only grants I know of that are specifically offered to PTOs and PTAs are the Lowe's Toolbox for Education grants. You might also check out the article Finding and Winning Grants, which includes some links to grant sites. Grants are more commonly made to the school itself or the district than the PTO or PTA. That's one reason most parent groups acquire most of their money through fundraising.
